This is a nice little local SF market that stocks high quality organic produce, locally sourced meat proteins and is a surprisingly adept little one stop shop. The staff is usually friendly and very helpful with their own unique character. I prefer to do my shopping here over the disconnected corporate ran Bezos Whole Foods down the block. If you ask someone here to stock an item for you, you actually get results unlike the alternative mentioned above.
They didn't have bags with handles. I spent half an hour shopping, and then couldn't buy anything. Won't come again.
It was sad to see Gus go away like that. A very honorable and friendly guy that will help anyone he comes across. Up until his passing I have been stopping by his stores for quick snacks depending where my assignment for day is located at. I recently spoke to his son how Gus would give me a bag of over ripen fruits to take free of charge in my younger years. He didn't deserve go like this and not fair to his family. Good neighborhood grocery store with friendly people that care about their customers is what you'll get here.
Extremely good selections in meat produces and I even can find Serrano and specialties the price are reasonable very clean place and if you need anything you should ask and it will make it happen amazing customer service and amazing management skills I highly recommend this place
A historic journey into the past years in the Haight - Ashbury part of SF.
They say theyre welcoming to the homeless community but they kicked me out when i went in to buy water. they dont even sell gallon jugs.
My favorite place to shop.
Very cool place, has all the best food
Great community market. Love grabbing breakfast when I'm in town!
Excellent place to kill time and have lunch.
Came here on a Saturday morning. Grocery selection looks good / on par with a small Whole Foods. The to-go drinks section is a nightmare. Took 20 minutes to get a drink. Orders came out randomly with little to no logic on the order when they were ordered. Plenty of cafes / juice places on Haight so I’d recommend somewhere else.
Clean, fresh vegetables, nice people, spensive, It's price and qualityI talk about Harrison street, San Francisco, California
I love this place, every time I walk in there is something new I want to try. Probably my favorite market store in SF. Most things are locally or California produced. Their handmade sandwiches and prepped meals are great. (Clam chowder is awesome). They have a boss bread, wine and cheese collection. Prices are reasonable too. Cant go wrong.
Lots of fresh fruits and veggies, fresh meat and seafood, salad bar, fresh bread, roasted chicken still being warm... Many options for vegans, gluten-free, dairy-free, keto, paleo diets... More expensive than Whole Foods but at least this place has its own identity and you know you're helping a good cause. Staff is mostly helpful and friendly, even to non-native speakers. They even have deli sandwiches, sushis to go and a little coffee shop.
Plenty of fresh organic vegetables, some catering food and bulk!
Best produce in the city, hands down.
Great produce, good sandwiches, nice people.
Really good customer service
Great local neighborhood store. They also have a location in the Mission. Owner was named Gus and he was sadly killed in an accident while picking out produce for his stores.
Great little market stocks a great range of loan and organic as well as some name brands for essentials.Prices are very reasonable not much more than shopping at safeway.
Favorite grocery store in the city. Great selection of produce at good prices. Meat and fish quality is better than Whole Foods with comparable prices, on average.
Fantastic local serious grocery store. You can find everything you need, prices are very good.
Haight Street Market is an excellent neighborhood grocery business in The Haight. And a must visit for anyone exploring the community.HSM offers high quality products & services in all areas. The Produce area specializes in a variety of fruits & veggies with an emphasis in the organic. The Deli section menu can accommodate any dietary preference. But the most unique attribute, HSM is a gathering spot for the locals. This review is dedicated to the memory of Gus.
This is truly a community market. When there is hoarding of supplies due to current health conditions, Gus has put their toilet paper and hand sanitizers on sale when other markets are increasing their prices.
Great market...lots of great fresh fruits and vegetables.
Compact local grocery store with a great range of high quality produce. Very friendly vibe.
loved the little park out front. The only spot on Height Street that you can sit down. It has tables and chairs which you can enjoy a meal or just hang out
I can't say enough good things about this market. Fantastic produce, fine deli counter including fresh sushi, all other items are thoughtful types and of good quality, big cheese section and more.
This is a fantastic store with great prices. It's small, but I've never been unable to find anything (even random specialty items) and all of the employees are great. Last time I went, I showed up about 5 minutes before close without realizing and was hesitating at the door, not wanting to be rude and delay the employees. The manager came outside and assured me it was okay and to take my time. Really, really wonderful store.
Very cool small supermarket with fresh produce. You will find here everything you need. Staff super nice and helpful.
What a gem. Great deli selection, tons of exciting cheese and all the things you could want from a grocery store.
I love going down Haight Street. There are all types of markets and fun little shops. Merchants are usually friend, helpful, and the price reasonable considering where we live. Take a trip down Height and see history.
Love Love Love this place. A few years back when they were expanding at the same time Whole Foods was opening down the street I thought they were crazy. They proved me wrong. The produce far exceeds the limited offerings of wholefoods, the wine selection is one of the best in the city and the meat market although small is always well stocked and has the friendliest butchers around. You can tell Gus is a great guy to work for by how happy and friendly the staff is. Kudos to you Gus!
Grocery store with long history that makes you feel in a neighborhood rather than corporate America. Cashiers and staff are very friendly and mood lightening folk.
Wonderful place. I was just visiting, but I so loved it!
The first time I explored San Fransisco, I came here with a bunch of my friends. It was such a great experience, learning the history and connecting with other people on the street. My favorite place in SF.
Excellent selection of fresh produce, meats, seafood and needed household items. A Haight St. essential.
Small but fully packed, incredible range of groceries with fresh fruit and vegetables. Can easily buy every grocery you need here. They even had a great variety of international products which was great for me as an immigrant!
Best small grocery in the city. Delicious freshly made sandwiches, awesome cheese selection, and lots of wine and beer to choose from. Ready-made picnic. Staff are helpful and friendly. Love the butchers.
Spotless clean, great quality products and very helpful staff.Great gluten free products too.
Fantastic grocery store. Great prices and selection, even for specialty items. Amazing service too. I couldn't find small bottles of white wine for cooking today so they gave me a free big bottle (pictures).
Bright and festive, if you're in the Haight c check it out.
Great selection of produce at surprising reasonable prices. Also it's one of the few places I've found where you can buy ground chicken breast, and Greek cheeses like Kasseri for making Saginaki (the cheese on fire dish). They consistently have a good selection of fresh fish and while I've never ordered one of their sandwiches I hear good things about them from everyone who has.
The produce is fresh, fragrant, and colorful and competitively priced with great variety for a small neighborhood stores. Though the well stocked aisles are narrow you will find quality throughout this gem of a store. I found the meat and seafood to be of highest quality but no place to explore if you are on a budget. There is an excellent selection of wine and cheese and the cooked foods are a great option when you don't want to cook. The long single checkout lines move quickly and the employee helpful, efficient, and friendly.
Great salads and had outstanding selection of produce. Staffs were friendly and kind. Prices were fair and every thing was organized.
It's a great place with good people.
Ask for Mr T...he's literally the nicest person! Big sports fans and always have a game on. White Claw available.
Gus’s, or Haight Street Market is a neighborhood staple. From picnic snacks and quality ingredients for an at-home dinner to the deli counter & coffee bar this place has it all. One of my go-to’s for a quote to-go bit (try their sandwiches!), a morning coffee or pastry, and more. Also, excellent wine & cheese selection.
Beautiful family owned market and has some very unique products that you can't find at just any grocery store.
A favorite. Great wine, cheese, deli, veggies, organics, kombucha, fish, this place has everything.
